What do we aim to achieve with our school kit activities?

With the School Kit activity, we aim to prevent children who are affected by the crisis and have to struggle with feelings of uncertainty, anxiety about the future and hopelessness from being deprived of education. By providing the necessary materials to children who cannot go to school due to lack of stationery, we aim to help them continue their education, overcome the traumas caused by war, conflict and natural disasters and look to the future with hope. Our aim is to increase children's self-confidence by providing them with knowledge and skills and to ensure that they become useful individuals for society in the future.

What do we pay attention to when identifying the regions where we will give School Kits?

Our association, which works with children in regions affected by war, disasters and economic crises, also identifies the needs in these regions within the scope of school kit activities. Apart from this, the accessibility and security of the region and the ability to carry out the distribution under reportable conditions are important for us. Another issue we pay attention to is that after analyzing the needs of the region, we have the opportunity to carry out projects in the region in question.

In which regions do we carry out School Kit activities and to whom do we aim to deliver them?

We aim to deliver the bags filled with stationery materials to children who will start the 2024-2025 academic year in crisis regions such as Palestinian children who came to Turkey from Gaza after October 7, East Turkestan, the earthquake zone, Jerusalem, Yemen, Syria and Afghanistan.

How do we identify children in need to receive stationery sets?

After October 7, we have been continuing our psychosocial support and social assistance activities for children who came to Turkey from Gaza. In this context, we primarily support Gazan children in the distribution of school sets. With our school kits containing reading books and crayons, we are working to ensure that Gazan children, who are away from the conditions of war, have a pleasant time like their peers.

In Syria, together with the students at our Yeryüzü Çocukları School with a capacity of 2,000 children, we also deliver school sets to Syrian children living under difficult conditions in tent cities in line with the evaluations of our social service experts.

Our social service experts, who have been active in the region since the first days of the earthquake, determine the children to be provided with school sets by taking into consideration the socio-economic status of children and their families, their access to social assistance and their student status.

In other regions where we want to work, we collect detailed information about the region through our partner organizations. In line with the data we collect and our corporate principles, we hold consultations with our partner organizations and then identify the most disadvantaged children in the region.

After the determinations made by our social service experts, we carry out the distribution of school sets together with our teammates.

What are the materials to be distributed to children as part of the school kit campaign?

The School Kit to be delivered to a child includes basic needs such as bags, pens, pencils, notebooks, erasers, coloring pencils and other different school materials that each child needs according to their educational level. The number and variety of materials varies according to the education system of the country of distribution and the age groups of the children.
